A Belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Happy new year everyone! I meant to get pics of our Christmas cards up before Christmas, but here we are. I do love a clean and shiny new year and all the hopeful promises that resolutions bring. I'm pretty excited about 2016. With no pregnancy to deal with and Sinclair out of the newborn/infant stage, I hope to get a lot accomplished.

Resolutions for 2016:
-150 combined items in Vintage Soup and Vintage Soup Closet by the end of September. This is a tall order, but it would put both shops in a great spot for when the holiday rush starts in October.

-Much more regular posting to this blog. My goal has always been three posts a week, and while I know I won't hit that every week, I would sure like to get closer to it than I did this past year.

-Monthly Parent/Child Date with the kids. One Saturday a month, I'm going to take one kid, and Piercen is going to take the other out somewhere around town for some one-on-one time with Mama or Papa. Then we'll switch kids the next month. I'm taking Sinclair out this coming Saturday, and as she loves animals, we're going to hang out at a nearby pet store for a while.

-Monthly StayDate with Piercen. We don't have the money to go out on the town every month, but we can make cocktails at home once the kids have gone to bed and then pretend we are at a fancy bar and talk about silly and serious things.

-Monthly Piercen Makes Dinner. A couple of reasons for this one: a) I don't want our kids growing up thinking that it's the job of a woman to make dinner, b) when I make dinner all the time, we eat whatever I'm in the mood for; it might be nice for others to have some say in what we eat.

-Monthly Luther Decides on Dinner. I want the kids to have a good understanding of how meals are picked out, planned, prepped, and made. I want them to be excellent cooks.  Luther will get to choose what we have, he will help me make the grocery list and do the shopping. Then we will prep and cook it together. He already "helps" with cooking most dinners, but I think he will really enjoy making decisions and taking ownership of the meal.

I'd like to revisit this list in June to see how things are going and revise/add/subtract as necessary. So again, happy new year!

  1. These are all such awesome plans and resolutions! (And plaid!) Happy 2016, indeed!

  2. Thanks Holly! Believe it not, the plaid was not planned but just happened. The way plaid should. Happy 2016 to you too!
