Lookbook Comparison: JCrew and Madewell, Fall 2011

I've been wanting to do another Lookbook Comparison post for a while, but I couldn't find a fall collection that I a) liked of the various looks to warrant a post, or b) had enough comparable clothing items in my closet to put together a comparison. In the end, I decided to cobble together looks from the JCrew and Madewell fall collections.

1. This outfit is fairly close to the JCrew version; although, I'm wearing real pants with my shirt instead of just tights.

Shirt: thrifted, Gap
Sweater: thrifted, Old Navy
Pants: JCrew
Shoes: Target

2. I'm not a huge fan of this outfit; seems rather bland for JCrew, but I had items with a similar silhouette so I thought I'd give it a go. Yup, still not a fan.

Shirt: thrifted, Heritage 1981
Skirt: thrifted, New York and Company
Watch: gift from parents, revolt70

3. Seriously JCrew? This monochromatic outfit from the same people who just a few years ago were putting hot pink tops with sunshine yellow pants? At least add a different colored belt and shoes!

Dress: Old Navy
Belt: thrifted, vintage
Hat: thrifted
Socks: Target
Shoes: thrifted, vintage
Watch: gift from parents, revolt70

4. I like Madewell's line this fall, but many of the pieces struck me as a bit unpractical. They seemed either too warm or not warm enough.

Shirt: thrifted, Gap
Skirt: thrifted, Max Studio
Belt: thrifted, vintage

5. I don't know where Madewell design headquarters are located but clearly they're not in Bethlehem, PA as it is way too chilly to be walking around with no leggings under that shirt dress.

Shirt dress: thrifted, a.n.a.
Belt: thrifted, vintage
Leggings: Target
Bracelet: thrifted

Hope you have a lovely weekend! I'm going to take the next two days to work on getting shop listings ready so that I can actually post new items in Vintage Soup next week. It's been over three weeks since I stocked up the shop, and I really need to get my rear in gear for the holiday season.

  1. I am not sure which I covet more, your skirt in two, or your hat in three! Love it! And you have made J. Crew so much more interesting... you and Michelle Obama need to pep these people up!!!
