History Lesson: Western Electric Rotary Telephone

Vintage "Celebrity" Rotary Phone by Western Electric

I found this vintage rotary telephone several months ago while thrifting with my mother-in-law. It is one of the "Celebrity" style rotary phones produced by the Western Electric company between the 1970s and 1980s as a part of their "Design Line." This particular phone is for sale in my shop.

I still remember using my grandmother's rotary phone when I was a child, and even then it seemed like an anachronism.

  1. Oh my goodness, I LOVE this piece-totally stunning. How could someone have let it go? Their loss is VS' gain. My parents had a rotary phone when I was a whipper-snapper-it was so much fun to dial!

  2. And to think that there will soon be generations of kids that have never used a rotary dial! I wonder if my little sister has?!

  3. It seems rather unlikely! I think we were at the very twilight of that era. Thank goodness for VS, keeping the memory, at least, alive!
